Everything I do is esoteric: Blood in the Snow is neither about blood nor snow.

[Torn from the comment section below my most recent video. In this case, you are seeing my reply without wasting any time in reading the comment I was replying to.]

—————

You're "reading" this video as if it were a pamphlet for a political party that doesn't exist: you're interpreting what I'm doing at too low an intellectual level, as if the transcript were iterating and reiterating one simple meaning to you, directly. It isn't.

Everything I do is esoteric: my book, Blood in the Snow, is neither about blood nor snow. The real meaning of this video is not expressed directly.

And —nevertheless— I can say, sincerely, that the A.I. summary of this video (generated by Youtube's star-shaped "Ask" function) comes closer to a correct understanding of the text than you do.

I don't feel any emotional need to be easily understood, and I am not upset by being misunderstood: I do not know to what extent members of my audience are upset by misunderstanding me —or by discovering, in retrospect, what they've misunderstood, and its implications for their own motivation and character. Just one of my viewers ended up in a prison outside of Luhansk because he misunderstood what I had to say about democracy, the war in Ukraine, and, I suppose, the meaning of life. Just one that I know of.
