"Here" could be anywhere in this country: our trip to Montreal a few months ago made me more acutely aware than ever that (1) Quebec is not an exception, and (2) Canada's big cities are certainly not an exception. The problem is not just Toronto, not just Calgary, and not just the Pacific Northwest: coast to coast intellectual bankruptcy —with mass immigration as a distraction from the history of genocide and the our present-tense cultural poverty.
